Welcome to 5th Grade! This is a pivotal year for students - we spend a lot of time preparing for middle school in academics and behavior. Students are held more accountable for their actions and are given the responsibility for meeting deadlines, getting classwork completed and homework turned in. In addition to our CORE ELA and Math classes, students will also have classes in Social Studies, Science, and Technology. Fifth graders are able to participate in Orchestra, Band, Student Council and off-campus field trips. One of our field trips will be to Valencia Middle School toward the last quarter of the year.
It is very important that students attend school every day, ready to learn. All students should be prepared with a backpack, a supply of pencils and erasers, glue sticks, colored pencils, scissors and a flash drive. A Banks homework folder will be provided to them. They will need to bring the homework folder back and forth to school. Newsletters, school flyers, and other pertinent information will be sent home in the homework folders, so please check them daily.
We believe open communication between us and our parents is very important. We hold Parent-Teacher conferences in the fall and in the spring, but are always willing to make time to meet with parents before or after school. If you need to contact us, you may leave a message with the office or email us at any time.
